Retama Village First Responders

How Do You Reach Us?       (956) 342-1761

If you have a medical emergency, call 911 for medical assistance.  The First Responder cell phone will be shut off to save the monthly expense.  When COVID 19 conditions are under control, the First Responder Program will be reactivated and the phone will be turned on again.

Thank you for your understanding.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.

Who are we?

Well, we are all Retama Village residents.   We are NOT paramedics!  However, we are all retired firefighters, military medics, nurses, etc.

All of us have been trained and certified in BASIC FIRST AID, TRAUMA DING, CPR & AED.   We are here to help you out however we can at any time. All you need to do is CALL US!

How Do You Reach Us?        (956) 342-1761

First call 911 if serious to get the ambulance rolling.

Then call this number!  We now have a dedicated  First Responder phone.  One of our members will always have this phone with.  When a call comes in this person will respond and/or contact other members to respond if needed!

Volunteers

We are always looking for more volunteers to help us out. If you are interested just contact one of  us.

What have we done this season?

First of all we had an awesome fundraiser at the Christmas Cookie Sale! Thank you all for your donations of baked goods and cash!  We now have a fund to work with to better serve our residents.

We have purchased a dedicated phone for responder use.  Now residents only need one number to contact us instead of going to the directory to look up numbers.

We have purchased and are awaiting the delivery of our GO BAG and its contents so we have what we need to work our calls.

We hosted along with da Range a very good “Stop The Bleed” class to train people on severe trauma wounds or gunshot wounds.  We also had a little refresher class when people picked up the trauma kits that they ordered after the class.

We got all of our Responders re-certified for their CPR/AED cards.  We will be doing this every 2 years as required by the Red Cross.

The most recent thing we have just done is enlist 2 new people to our First Responders family!  I am proud to welcome Michele Schram and Sandy Miller to our group and thank them for volunteering to help us out.. As you see them around the village please give them a big Thank You!

Updates and Announcements !

Every month at the village meeting I or one of the responders will be present to give everyone a monthly update with anything concerning the First Responders and to take any questions that  anyone may have.

I will also send an update to webmaster to put on our website.

I keep in touch with a wonderful lady that heads up all of the training opportunities and seminar’s for all of the First Responders in all of the resorts in the Valley. Some of these training opportunities are for non-responders also, like first aid and CPR training, programs or information on a lot of  the ailments the we older folks seem to acquire.  As these opportunities  come up I will have them posted on the website by the webmaster, I will have either the webmaster or the Activities Committee to putout in a mass email and I will also post them on the Retama Facebook page.

As always, if anyone has any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me by text, email, phone or just stop in or contact any of the other Responders to help out any way we can.

Once again thank you all for your kindness and generosity!
