Retama Village is fortunate to have a number of talented and creative individuals living in our community. As such, we now have dedicated space in the Clubhouse for resident artists to display hanging art. The goal behind creating the “gallery” is two-fold:
- First, it provides a forum for our residents to share their artistic endeavors with members of the community.
- Second, it will showcase the diverse talent within Retama for prospective property owners.
The art items on display will be rotated to allow more resident art items to be displayed
The Gallery Curators will manage the art items on display and schedule events to highlight the displayed items.
Guidelines for the items to be displayed are in the enclosed document.
General Guidelines:
Artists residing in Retama Village are eligible to display works of visual arts that are generally regarded as suitable for wall hanging. Items may include,
but are not limited to photography, oil, acrylic or watercolor paintings, charcoal drawings/sketches, digital graphics, fabric and/or mixed media artwork, stained glass, etc.
Artwork will be displayed throughout the entire year. If warranted, items will be displayed on a rotating basis, allowing all interested residents the opportunity to show their work. Residents will be limited in the number of pieces they are allowed to display at any given time. During the months of
December through March, there may be one or more scheduled exhibition events.
All pieces must be original works created by the resident.
The subject matter must be appropriate for all ages.
The artwork displayed is not to be advertised for sale. Persons interested in purchasing an item may contact the artist directly.
The overall dimensions of any item will not be less than 80 sq. in. or in excess of 650 sq. in. Size limitations may be temporarily suspended under
certain circumstances and/or during special scheduled exhibitions. The display system also has weight limitations that are generous, but must be adhered to.
It is the responsibility of the artist to ensure his/her art work is equipped with mounting hardware compatible with the hanging system installed.
An information card will be made available for the artist to record his/her name and title of the piece and medium used to produce the art.
Persons interested in displaying or removing their work should contact the current curators. The hanging, management and removal of all artwork
displayed will be the duty of the curators.
Persons displaying artwork will need to have a signed waiver/release on file with the Retama Village Community Manager.

Exhibition Events:
Announcement of special exhibitions will be made through the Retama Village Activities Committee, as well as Facebook posts.
Displaying artists are encouraged to promote the events in which they are participating. On the occasion of a new exhibition, artists may be asked to
be present during the Friday evening clubhouse gathering to discuss their art with interested persons.
