Retama Gun Club Safety Rules
This is a private, member only range. Badges must be worn while at the range. The range is open 7 days a week, during daylight hours.
The Range runs under a Cold Range Policy – All firearms are to be COMPLETELY unloaded, with no ammunition in the firearm. Magazine may only be loaded into the firearm at the firing line.
- We encourage pistol bags and chamber flags when moving to/from the firing line.
- No fully automatic firearms.
- No bi-metal, armor piercing, bi-metal, steel core, incendiary or tracer rounds allowed.
- Center fire rifles may be discharged at benches 1 & 2
- The benches are the firing line. Do not move beyond the benches to shoot.
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it. Avoid shooting targets BEHIND your target.
- Avoid shooting the wooden target board and frame supports.
- The “Red Range” flag must be flown prior to commencement of any shooting.
- Do not handle firearms at your vehicle.
- NEVER walk down range to check targets until all firearms have been placed in the proper safe position and a “range is clear” has been declared and acknowledged by the other shooters.
- When two or more shooters are at the range a Range Safety Officer should be designated.
Designated shooting areas
Benches 1-2 Center fire rifles only. A maximum rifle .30 caliber
Benches 3-5 Pistol / revolvers only
Benches 6-12 Rimfire rifle or pistol/revolver only
No shotgun are to be fired under the sun shades!
